Weeks 4 & 5

So I didn’t get a chance to post about week 4. Mainly because I totally forgot. But here I am, posting about week 4 & 5 since I finally have some down time.

Week 4 was probably the busiest week I have had throughout this whole deployment. Everyday was spent preparing for the benefit show with crafts for the raffle table, shopping, putting trophies together, preparing the paperwork, getting things set up at the arena, picking up donations, and soooo much more! But I managed to handle it all and got through it like the tough cowgirl that I am!

Week 5 was pretty much just as busy. Coming off such a high from such a successful event, I didn’t even know where to start when it was all over. My house looked like a horse show threw up in it. My yard needed mowing. Laundry needed done. Floors needed cleaned. My grandfather went into the hospital. And I just had so much to take care of that had been neglected while preparing for the benefit. But again, I got it all done and more. Not sure how, but it is done!

I did take this past Sunday to relax a little. I vacuumed in the morning, then sat on the couch watching a few episodes of Snapped and then got ants in my pants and had to get out of the house. I was going to bust out the 4 wheeler and drag my pasture, but changed my mind when my friend called me in a panic because she had pulled everything out of her garage and didn’t even know where to start to get it all put back in and organized. So I offered to go over and help her before the rain came in.

I was planning to watch the Daytona 500, but just got so busy. Thankfully my favorite driver won anyways. Would have loved to have been rooting him on with my daddy and papa, but I was doing my good deed for the day helping a friend. Are any of you big NASCAR fans? I would love to say I am, but I am not as big of a fan as I was in my younger years. The rules have become ridiculous and it’s just not like it was back in the day. Growing up with NASCAR being a big part of my life with a father and grandfather that spent many years on every inch of the Daytona Speedway, you would think I would be a die hard fan. But again, it’s just not the same. I love to go to the races still, but I find myself spending most of my time where the parties are kickin. Not watching the race.

It’s kind of sad because I have actually never watched a race from the stands. Well, I guess it’s not sad because I really have no desire to watch from there. I don’t want to sit in the stands for hours when I can hang out in the infield and have more fun. I have attended so many races and events at the speedway, and always end up in the infield. Fortunately my dad has the hookup and we always end up in some VIP section with free booze and food. Nascar just wouldn’t be fun without the booze.

Anywho, back to the chopping block going into week 6. I can’t believe it’s already been 5 weeks since they all left. I am so glad this deployment is fling by. Oh, and big news. I got my horse trailer! Getting my new hitch installed in my truck this week, and then hitting the road with my fancy new rig. Stitch is going to be so happy to have more room to move around and mama is excited to have more room for all her darn tack! Oh, and a bed to nap in when I get tired at shows! Hard work pays off people!
