Crafty little fingers

For Christmas all I asked for were two things, a Silhouette Cameo and the Garth Brooks box set. Since I love to craft, the Silhouette has been at the top of my list of items to have. A friend of mine has the Cricut, and I loved it when she let me use it. When I told her I was thinking of getting one, she said I should look into the Silhouette instead because it connects to the internet for patters and such, rather than having to purchase cartridges. If you don’t know what either of these machines are, they are die cut machines that you use for cutting out patterns for scrap booking, making banners for parties, photo booth props, cutting fabric, and so much more.

Last night when I got home from work, I was greeted with a nice package that came in for me. It was my Silhouette Cameo. I was so excited that I decided to set up a craft area and get to work. Well, that was after I heat up my dinner, vacuumed the floors and popped open a tasty bottle of wine. Once I sat down about 2 hours later, I was finally on my way to learning how this thing works. I installed the software, watched the instructional video, and started prepping my paper. Since I knew I was just learning this thing, I decided to make a sign for the photo booth I am setting up this weekend at an ugly sweater party we are attending. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s still cute for my first attempt. I didn’t have any vinyl, so I used card stock and modge podge. Later that night I added some more to is, but this was the photo I took to show a friend. After I made this sign, I decided to make another one. It turned out a little better. However, it will be much easier to straighten things out and all when I use vinyl in the future. But I was too excited to use this thing and I jumped the gun and this is what I decided on. I am happy with the outcome 🙂

Tonight the hubs and I are working on our ugly sweaters and this machine is definitely going to come in handy. I will also be using it to make additional photo booth props to go along with the ones I already have. I will make sure to post more photos and blogs about my projects as I go along. So stay tuned, cause my crafty fingers are itching to get some projects done!
