You know, I don’t brag about my husband that often because I have a theory about people that are constantly wooing their mate over the internet. I know I have an amazing husband, and I don’t have to blast it all over the internet just so people think we are perfect or whatever. But when he goes over and above my expectations, I like to share it every once in a while!
I, like any other woman, LOVE surprises. Last week on my way home from California we ended up delayed at the airport for 10 hours. Our flight that was supposed to land in Orlando at 11:30pm, didn’t land until 8:30am the next morning. My whole plan was to rush home to beat Chris there (he works nights) so I could have his gifts ready for him and spend a little time with him before we head to the airport again for his flight out to visit his father. But since my flight was delayed, that wasn’t happening. Chris’ flight was to leave at 9:20 and of course mine arrived less than an hour before that. Fortunately we were flying in and out of the same terminal, so we got to meet in the middle and say our goodbye’s for another week apart. I think we got maybe 15 minutes together 😦 Chris boarded his flight, and I went on home to get some much needed sleep.
While Chris was gone, I worked on house items, rode the horses, spent time with friends and family, and tons of other things to keep me occupied while I was missing him. He spent some great quality time with his father visiting NYC and a few other places. I told him before he left that if he wanted to get me something while he was gone, I would love a new Coach wristlet being mine is getting old and is almost to it’s grave. He said we will see, and then we never spoke of it again.
I picked Chris up from the airport and had a very enjoyable drive home as he told me all about his trip. When we got to the house he started unpacking and was showing me all the cool things he got himself and Tyler. Then he came over to me with a Tiffany’s bag. I got all excited because I have never had anything from Tiffany’s and was probably close to having a tear or two welling up in my eyes. But to my dismay, there was nothing from Tiffany’s in the bag. There was a miniature coffee mug that said “California and Los Angeles” all over it and a post card that said “Mark Twains House” and a picture of it. I was slightly taken back and confused. Was this a joke I asked? He laughed and said “you don’t like it?” I told him that it wasn’t that I didn’t like it, I was just confused because I was really expecting something from Tiffany’s.
He went on to tell me that he thought I didn’t like Tiffany’s and why would he get me something I didn’t like. Um, what girl doesn’t like or want something from Tiffany’s? I mean hell, I know a lot of girls that buy the knock off just to say they have something from there, lol. So I shrugged it off and went to go to my room (to pout a little, lol) and as I walked past him, there was another Tiffany’s bag sitting on the other counter hiding behind him. He got this huge grin on his face and hugged me. I was seriously blown away. Chris plays jokes on me all the time, but not usually with gifts. It’s more of a “I’m not coming home for two more hours even though we have major plans tonight, then shows up two minutes later” kind of jokes. So I was definitely shocked when he pulled this one on me. The last time he did something this good, was when he had me all upset because he didn’t invite me to dinner with him and his stepmom and then came home and proposed to me (they were picking up the ring, lol).
I am so lucky to have this man as my husband. We have been through some of the hardest times in our life together, yet we continue to grow even stronger together. No, things are not perfect, as no relationship is. But I can say that we are a great team and will continue to move forward growing even stronger than ever.
